Chris Carr - Chief Operating Officer Channels, BBC Worldwide America

Chris Carr is Chief Operating Officer Channels, BBC Worldwide America and is responsible for overseeing the financial, operational and commercial aspects of BBC AMERICA and future BBC Worldwide channels in the U.S.

Chris joined BBC AMERICA in March 1998 as Chief Financial Officer and was one of the original team of executives that launched the channel.

Chris trained with KPMG Peat Marwick and, after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant joined the BBC in 1990. Chris worked on the development of the BBC’s first commercial channels, BBC Prime and BBC World, and in 1996 was promoted to Head of Financial Planning for BBC Worldwide Television. In this role he was heavily involved in the negotiations to establish the joint venture between the BBC and Discovery that resulted in the launch of BBC AMERICA.

Chris graduated in Modern History and Politics with Economics from Southampton University in 1985. He enjoys trekking, literature, cinema and walking in his native Yorkshire Dales.
